BENEFITING: Flatwater Foundation
We've officially begun working with The Flatwater Foundation to bring access to mental health services to cancer patients and their families in the Philadelphia area at no cost to program participants.
The Flatwater Foundation is dedicated to providing those diagnosed with cancer, their families and loved ones access to mental health therapy and family support. This includes access to both traditional and non-traditional methods of psychological counseling.
Enabling those in need to “Live Inspired. Feel Empowered.”
When our friend Mark Garza's dad was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, he felt the impact of the diagnosis firsthand. Seeking support, he was shocked at the cost of therapy and realized there was a lack of care for thousands of people that were going through similar experiences. Mark understood the benefits that therapy could provide during such an emotionally and financially trying time, and he knew that something should, and could, be done to help.
In June 2010, he started "Dam That Cancer," a 21 mile stand-up paddleboard event in Austin, as a "PR stunt," which became the springboard for the Flatwater Foundation's path towards raising over $1.5 million to fund access to mental health services for cancer patients and their families. We look forward to pioneering The Flatwater Foundation expansion outside of Texas by bringing its programs to patients at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in the very near future.
With our new commitment to bringing access to mental health services for cancer patients to Philadelphia, we truly need your generous support to raise $75,000 with The Flatwater Foundation. Please consider making a donation of $100 (or more) today.
Thank you to everyone who has donated. Would you consider asking a friend or colleague to support our mission? Your support makes a significant difference for families facing a cancer diagnosis.
We also thank those of you who plan on giving today. The fight against cancer never ends. Don't forget, donors at the $100+ level receive a Team I Hate Cancer shirt in appreciation of their generosity.
If you'd prefer not to give online, you can donate via mail:
