I am raising money to support Justin, a NYC high school student whom I am mentoring through a program called iMentor. First about Justin. Justin is a high school freshman at Academy for Software Engineers (AFSE), a Career and Technical Education school located in NYC. He is a quick study and full of big dreams. He wants to pursue a technology-related career, but not sure exactly which field or the right path to get there... which is where iMentor and I come in. :)
iMentor works with high schools in low income communities to match 100% of their students with a 1:1 mentor, for all four years of their high school education. Through the program's curriculum, Justin and I email every week and meet f2f once a month. The program has incredible results in helping these students prepare for and graduate from college, and achieve their ambition. This year iMentor matched more than 6,500 high school students with a mentor.
The iMentor program is possible in part through individual fundraisers like this one. For every $1,000 raised, iMentor can provide the programming, staff and support to match one high school student with a full time 1:1 mentor for one year.
Please consider donating to iMentor to continue to expand this type of programming to more high schools, and students like Justin.
