iMentor is a mentoring program that matches NYC professionals with high school students. The mentors/mentees email each other once a week via the iMentor website and meet in person once a month at sponsored events. These are the minimum requirements for the program but over time more frequent communication occurs and is encouraged.
I was recently matched with my mentee, Anaiyah, who is a Freshman and I'll be her mentor throughout her high school career. As a mentor, I look forward to helping her set goals and to do everything I can to help her achieve them. I'll introduce her to available resources as well as share my experiences to show her that if she puts in the hard work, anything is possible.
I would SO appreciate your support and consideration in donating to iMentor. And if you're interested in becoming a mentor yourself, let me know and I'd be happy to provide more information! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
More from iMentor:
Now, more than ever, we need to show our students that there are countless people across the country who care deeply about them, who stand with them and who will do whatever it takes to help them achieve their ambitions.
The iMentor Challenge is our chance to do just that. It's a community-driven crowdfunding campaign powered by our mentors and their friends, families and colleageues.
Crowdrise makes it easy, fun and effective for mentors to share their story and raise crucial dollars to connect even more students with mentors. Three hundred more students to be exact. We’re going big this year and looking to raise $300,000 so we can bring iMentor to a whole new school in New York City.
It costs iMentor $1,000 to provide one mentor-mentee pair with access to iMentor’s proven college success curriculum and resources. Here is what your support can do for New York City’s students:
- $25 allows a mentee to attend a year of iMentor events
- $100 supplies a mentee with a year's access to monthly career and college preparation events
- $500 provides a college application event for an entire Junior class
- $1,000 supports the mentorship of one student as they work one-on-one with their mentor toward academic and personal success
