iMentor is a great program through The Robin Hood Foundation in NYC that focuses on mentoring gifted young people through the entirety of high school (9th-12th grade) to establish academic and personal goals, navigate the college application process, and manage the transition from home to a college campus. Often times mentees will be the first person in their family to potentially attend college.
My mentee is Joseph, an amazing young guy, passionate about basketball (he has an awesome jump shot), computers, and his family and friends. Joseph is currently working through his freshman high school year at the Academy for Software Engineering (ASFE) in the Gramercy area of Manhattan.
The program has been absolutely amazing both of us and countless other mentor / mentee pairs across the NYC area. But we need your help. It costs iMentor $1,000 / year to provide one mentor-mentee pair with access to iMentor’s proven college success curriculum and resources. Here is what your support can do for New York City’s students:
- $25 allows a mentee to attend a year of iMentor events
- $100 supplies a mentee with a year's access to monthly career and college preparation events
- $500 provides a college application event for an entire Junior class
- $1,000 supports the mentorship of one student as they work one-on-one with their mentor toward academic and personal success
I sincerely hope you will consider making a donation to iMentor to support their mission to show students that there are countless people across the country who care deeply about them, who stand with them, and who will do whatever it takes to help them achieve their ambitions.
