Through our work with iMentor, Alex, Leila, and OJ have the privilege of supporting New York City public high school students at the Bronx Academy for Software Engineering (BASE) this year. As the name suggests, BASE is located in the Bronx, NY and teaches students to engage in creative, solution-oriented problem solving through a curriculum of training in programming, software design and app development.
As part of the iMentor program, students are matched with mentors in 9th grade and remain matched for the duration of their high school careers. This one-to-one match helps support students in their high school endeavors, and specifically as they grow personally and academically, while building skills and knowledge geared toward post-secondary success. iMentor accomplishes this through an intentional classroom curriculum which extends to weekly online communication with mentors and mentor-mentee pairs meeting once a month at school events.
iMentor operates not only at BASE, but at 14 other schools within the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn, as well as in Chicago and the San Francisco Bay area! Please consider donating or sharing this cause with your networks-- every $1000 dollars donated covers the cost of one pair's participation in our program for a year. Even a small contribution could have a large impact on a high school student's ability to prepare for a future of success! Thank you very much for your support and consideration.
