For the past few years, I've been mentoring Najae, now a Senior in high school. At the beginning, it was about inspiring Najae to consider college, not just as an option, but as a necessary path. I learned early on that Najae aspires to be a doctor someday, because she wants to help others - it wasn't hard to share the importance of higher eduction with Najae, but the college process has opened my eyes to the resources needed to apply to college today.
Every student deserves a college education, and everyone deserves the resources it takes to be inspired and take the steps necessary to attend. iMentor helps students do just that - it's an incredible organization I've been lucky to be a part of and I am excited to see it grow to new schools and new cities.
This experience has been so rewarding, and I am so excited to see Najae graduate from high school this year, and become a first-generation college student in the fall.
It costs iMentor $1,000 to provide one mentor-mentee pair with access to iMentor’s proven college success curriculum and resources. Here is what your support can do for New York City’s students:
- $25 allows a mentee to attend a year of iMentor events
- $100 supplies a mentee with a year's access to monthly career and college preparation events
- $500 provides a college application event for an entire Junior class
- $1,000 supports the mentorship of one student as they work one-on-one with their mentor toward academic and personal success
Thank you for your support!
