To all our Friends and Family: Jeff was first diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma almost three years ago and is currently managing with the disease very well.
He has been in a Phase-3 study since beginning this journey and his daily chemo medication has kept it in check up to this point. Unfortunately, Multiple Myeloma is highly unpredictable and the cancer eventually finds a way to circumvent the treatment. Patients become faced with trying a series of alternative medications and therapies until their options run out. We have seen this play out with some of our myeloma compadres and it is a sad, harsh reality.
Our goal from day-1 has always been to fight this and stay in the game long enough until there is a cure. That is why we are excited the Hutch is involved directly in the battle against this fatal blood cancer. They have some extremely committed individuals who have been working specifically on finding new treatments which may one day find a solution to this disease. They expect to begin clinical trials about a year from now which will focus on a cure, as opposed to a treatment.
All of you have been very supportive over the last several years and our family is hoping you will continue to back the effort in defeating Multiple Myeloma. Every dollar raised will go directly to Fred Hutchinson’s Multiple Myeloma research. We realize it is a lot to ask of you year after year, and can only hope you feel it is a worthy cause. We look forward to seeing you on June 26th and appreciate your support. Jeff, Andrea, Shaina, and Jace
