Jeffrey Lane was such an amazing soul. When asking family, friends and coworkers words they would use to describe him for something I was writing, I realized then that not one person used the word addict. Humble. Selfless. Protective. Patient. Compassionate. Fierce. Honest. Comical. Hungry. Tough. Quick witted. Facetious. Infamous. Intellectual. Genuine. These are all of the things that define Jeff. This is why we are walking. We are walking for what these people WERE. We are walking to change the stigma. I refuse to let what my brother lost his life to define him. The only way we can change the way we treat addiction is to do something about it. As my brother would say, "Don't talk about it, be about it!"
