We've formed a team for the 2016 High Water Women Backpack Drive, a charity that helps thousands of children in need start the school year ready to learn. In 2015, High Water Women provided 18,500 children with fully-supplied backpacks with the help of more than 2000 donors and volunteers. Since demand for backpacks gets bigger every year, High Water Women's 2016 goal is to provide fully-supplied backpacks for 20,000 local children in need.
In support of the High Water Women 2016 Backpack Drive, KPMG will be hosting an on-site backpack assembly event at its 345 Park Avenue NYC location on August 11th, 2016. KPMG's goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000 by July 15th to purchase the school supplies needed to assemble 400 backpacks at the KPMG August Assembly Event. Each $25 donation will fund a backpack filled with grade-appropriate school supplies that will be assembled at the August Assembly Event.
KPMG will be providing these fully-assembled backpacks to two non-profit organizations - Young Women's Leadership Network (YWLN) in NYC and The Jubilee Center in Hoboken, NJ.
Young Women's Leadership Network, is a non-profit organization that supports two life-changing programs that empower students to break the cycle of poverty through education. First, it reaches over 2200 students through its network of 5 all-girls public secondary schools, grades 6-12, located in East Harlem, Queens, Brooklyn & the Bronx, providing a high-quality single-sex educational choice for predominantly low-income students who will be the first in their families to attend college. Second, through its CollegeBound Initiative, it provides a comprehensive college access program for young men and women.
The Jubilee Center of Hoboken helps meet the needs of local youth through academic support services. It also provides nutritious daily meals, health and wellness workshops, positive recreational activities and a summer program. The Jubilee Center also has a career exploration and job preparedness program for youth ages 13-18. It now serves more than 100 children ages 5-12 (grades K-6) and 20 teens.
KPMG's goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000 by July 15th so it can assemble 400 backpacks and provide them to YWLN students and The Jubilee Center of Hoboken. Please donate to support our team. Thanks for your support and help in reaching our goal!
