EVENT: PH in the Park 2016
EVENT DATE: Aug 28, 2016
In Memory of Tom Kershisnik
Tom Kershisnik was a caring husband, loving father, and a loyal friend. Tom was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) in September 2009, and passed away on September 23, 2013.
Something we learned from Tom, that was ever present in his actions, his words and his heart, was that approaching anything in life had to be with 100% effort. Whether it be a backyard project, golf, or friendship, he devoted everything he had. Even when things became very difficult, he dug in and pushed harder...he developed a term, guts ball, for it. He approached his illness with the same gusto that he approached everything else in his life. He worked with many doctors, and organized and gathered his own data, thoughts and information. He developed a true passion for research surrounding pulmonary hypertension and finding viable treatments, not only for himself, but also for others impacted by it. Our father truly loved, honored and respected the team at University of Colorado and all the other doctors and nurses working toward this same goal for their dedication, their knowledge and for their passion for working toward a cure for PH.
This race is a symbol for the dedication that the doctors, nurses, and people like our dad have for finding a cure. He said that last years race was one of "the best days of his life"; it was the support that family and friends showed him, not the support for him, in his mind it was they all cared enough about pulmonary hypertension, the awareness, that would hopefully someday lead to a cure.
Tom gave life 100% and he fought one hell of a fight. We would like you to join us in this years race, as we would like to continue Toms passion, in hopes of finding a cure for PH.
On behalf of the Kershisnik family, thank you for your thoughts, dedication and hard work in picking up the fight with us, as well as your kindness and support over the years! Forever in our hearts!
