BENEFITING: UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
EVENT DATE: Aug 13, 2017
Help us honor our friend, Vara, who is fighting her second battle against Wilms Tumor. We met Vara last year during the WhipCancer Challenge when she was in remission and ready to start the next chapter in her battle to defeat cancer - advocacy and awareness. Unfortunately, that chapter was way too short. Now, as she wages her fight against this terrible disease, we want to do our best to help the world-renowned scientists at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital find a cure.
Each year, 13,000+ parents will hear the words “your child has cancer,” and 1 out of 5 of these children will not survive. We are choosing to be their light in dark times; to bring them the happiness they've always brought us. We are choosing to Black Out to Block Out Cancer. Please consider joining us as we walk in honor of Vara or making a donation to our efforts.
This run/walk fundraiser will take place on Sunday, August 13, 2017, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Nichols Arboretum at the University of Michigan. This opportunity is limited to the first 120 runners/walkers to register. The race will be approximately 1.5 miles around the Arboretum loop.
By registering or donating to Black Out to Block Out Cancer Run/Walk, you’re supporting researchers and physicians who are providing hope for children who’ve run out of options and serving as a compass for families desperately in need of new paths for treatment.
