BENEFITING: ENDURE TO CURE PEDIATRIC CANCER FOUNDATION
Cancer sucks. We all have been affected by this horrific disease. I experienced it first hand while watching my mom undergo breast cancer treatments in 2011, my best friend's husband's pancreatic diagnosis in 2012, and then again with my aunt's breast cancer treatments just this year. The unknowns, questions, worries, appointments, and waiting is difficult for an adult... Now can you imagine this happening to a child? Inconceivable. Excruciating. Tragic. But yet, it happens to thousands of kids (and their families) each year. And then it hits close to home. My friend's three-year-old nephew, Lucas, was diagnosed with Stage IV Burkitt's Lymphoma. As you can imagine, it is every parents worst nightmare. I want to help. In August, I will be running the Falmouth Road Race on behalf of Lucas and the Endure to Cure organization. It is a non-profit organization that brings emotional boosts to children in cancer treatment and provides a helping hand to their families. The money raised will help ease the day-to-day financial burden and give the family continued support. I'm doing this because cancer sucks. I'm doing this because no one, especially children, should go through this. I'm doing this because Lucas should be running outside. I'm doing this for Lucas. Thank you very much in advance for your support!
