Team Luke honors the memory of Luke Gary Dunn. Luke was the son of Shane and MaryJo Dunn. He was born on February 20, 2014 and passed away at 17 months old on August 12, 2015. Luke was diagnosed at 13 months old with a rhabdoid tumor of his liver that had metastasized to his lungs. This is the same cancer that also took the precious lives of Jamie Knotts and Miller Walsh. In Luke's short life he brought so much love and happiness to so many. He loved music and he lit up every room he was ever in. He taught us what it is to be a hero. He fought so hard for his Mom and Dad and always had a smile on his face even on his most difficult days. Luke is still making a difference in this world and is continuing to change lives by who he was and the lessons we learned from him. We are honored be a part of this amazing fundraiser to give back to Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Luke's name. The doctors and nurses at CCMC will always hold a special place in our hearts. They treated us like family and gave us hope when we were told that hope was lost. Luke participated in a clinical trial through CCMC that he was beginning to respond to. This gave us more smiles and more days with Luke and we are forever grateful to CCMC for doing EVERYTHING possible to try to save Luke's life. We received so much love and compassion from everyone we crossed paths with at CCMC that will stay with us forever. Please help us to support this amazing hospital with their research to help cure pediatric cancer. Every dollar is a step closer so that no other family will have to suffer the loss of their child.
