Each day many girls' Malawi walk the distance of a 10k to go to school. This year the Mission of the Republic of Malawi will join AGE Africa to honor AGE Africa scholars and participate in the 38th Annual Capitol Hill Classic. This race will provide us with a unique opportunity to shed light on one of the daily challenges our scholars’ face getting to school. We are excited to bring the stories of the girls in Malawi to the local community in D.C. and simultaneously support local D.C. schools in providing after school activities. AGE Africa’s after school CHATS Clubs program provides young girls in Malawi with resources to achieve success and impact their communities. As part of our CHATS program our girls learn self-advocacy, gender rights, reproductive health, basic job skills and engage in community service projects. We are excited to build on the success of our program and engage locally in our community here in D.C. to draw parallels between our two worlds. By participating in the Capitol Hill Classic and creating a support page on AGE Africa’s CrowdRise page you are helping to raise money to keep our scholars in school and engaged in the community. The Capitol Hill Classic 10K, 3K, and Fun Run is open to people of all ages (yes, babies and toddlers in strollers are welcome!). Please contact Concepcion Gaxiola at firstname.lastname@example.org to register for the race. We are excited to see you on the Hill and ready to run Sunday, May 21st!!
