June 20, 2016
This organization is very near and dear to me - over the last 5 years, we've raised money for the Maine Infantry Foundation through the Joshua Chamberlain Golf Classic, and in 2016, we're shaking things up a bit by doing a Tough Mudder!
While we remember the sacrifices that Maine infantrymen and women have made, we also recognize and help current servicemen and women by providing emergency assistance, scholarships, support for other veteran's programs, or to help fill other gaps as needed. We've put on community awareness programs to educate and spread the word about PTSD and the trials of homecoming after being in theatre.
This is also a personal journey - as of June 18th, the day I do the Tough Mudder in Vermont, it will have been 216 days (just shy of 31 weeks!) that I've been SMOKE FREE - for those of you who know me, you can only imagine how hard this journey has been and this is the longest I've ever gone! I know I will continue this after the TM is complete (because I'll have started training for next years' TM!).
Please support me on this fundraiser if you can - no amount too small or insignificant. If you can't donate financially, your support (and prayers!) will be very much appreciated as I get closer to race day. Thank you!! Nicole
