BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
EVENT DATE: Sep 30, 2017
On March 29, 2005, after numerous trips to the ER because I was having difficulty breathing and because I was extremely exhausted I was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) secondary to scleroderma (the ugliest combination of words ever!!!).
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is an incurable disease. It occurs when the vessels between the heart and the lungs become constricted causing the pulmonary pressures to rise. The right side of the heart tends to fail because it has to work harder to pump the blood through. PH causes death from heart failure. It affects men, women and children. There is no cure.
The purpose of our 2nd Annual Pulmonary Hypertension PHun Walk is to raise awareness about pulmonary hypertension. It's also to help raise money for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, an organization that offers hope to the PH community.
