Friends & family, many of you know the impact the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing had on me and my family.
[For those of you who do not, in summary, my dad and brothers were running and the timing of the explosions coincided with their projected finish times, my mom was there watching and was 1/2 block in between the two explosions. I was home alone in Virginia. For 45 helpless minutes I did not know if I would ever see my family again]
On September 10th I will be running the Stockholm Half Marathon and have been approved as an ambassador for Team MR8 to fundraise for the Martin Richard Foundation, which was founded in memory of 8-year-old Martin Richard who was killed in the bombings. The mission of the Foundation is "to honor Martin's message of 'No more hurting people - Peace' by investing in education, athletics, and community."
The Foundation strives to encourage youth and adults to improve the lives of others and become bridge builders, peacemakers, leaders, and entrepreneurs. The money raised by the Foundation’s marathon teams enables the organization to continue to make a difference not only in Boston, but across the nation.
With 40 days to go until my race, I have set a goal of $2,100 and ask that you please join me in my efforts to raise money for this worthy organization, any amount helps.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
