Please help us raise funds for the Naminya foundation! We have made it through the drawing for the TCS New York City Marathon 2016 and are lucky to have a guaranteed entry to the race on November 6th. Inspired by the love for the people in Uganda we are running this marathon for the Naminya community and hope to raise a considerable amount of funding.
Naminya is an impoverished community of farmers 6 miles outside of Jinja, Uganda. The main project of the Naminya foundation is the build of a school, Noah’s Ark Academy Naminya (NAAN). NAAN started out as a daycare for vulnerable orphans/children in the Naminya community. Afterwards NAAN started focusing on elementary education. 110 children go to Noah’s Ark Academy Naminya (NAAN) at the moment. These children come from different backgrounds. Some of them live with their parents, while others are orphans who are being taken care of by family members. A part of the parents and caregivers of the children are not able to afford the tuition. Others can only afford part of the tuition.
The goal of the foundation is to financially support these underprivileged children, so they can get an education. We also give some of the female villagers financial support to go to school to become a teacher. The Noah’s Ark Academy Naminya started the school in 2012. Between 2012 and 2016 four classrooms have been build as a result of the support by our volunteers. The goal for 2017/2018 is to finance the build of a new classroom every year.
As the foundation is not making use of intermediaries all the funds will benefit the local community directly. This is a small project for people who can really use the support, you can see how the money is spent as progress will be made!
