Join the Urban Initiatives Student Board members at Jones College Prep in supporting Work to Play participants at National Teachers Academy. Urban Initiatives' Work to Play students travel to play soccer with teams in communities throughout Chicago, crossing gang, cultural, and racial boundaries to come together through a common love of sport. The kids work hard in the classroom all week in order to take buses to other schools to participate in games that foster teamwork, soccer skills, and social inclusion. This travel is a critical component of the program and every donation counts! Here are some giving levels for you to consider:
Cost per child per game: $10
Cost per child per year: $60
Cost per team per game: $200
Cost per school per year: $2,000
ABOUT URBAN INITIATIVES:
Urban Initiatives is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that uses the power of sport to transform communities. Our model offers our participants a continuum of programming in which each stage builds on the learning and growth offered in the previous stage. Through engagement in our work, students start as players, become young leaders in their communities, and are guided to success in high school and beyond. We take a collaborative, whole child approach to development and work with parents, teachers, and community stakeholders to empower children to reach their full potential. We create a diverse and inclusive environment, one in which participants are invited to join our teams, regardless of skill level, and engage with their peers through broad, citywide networks.
