Thank you for your interest in the Southern California Walk to Stop the Clot®, a fun event to support those who have suffered from, or have been affected by, blood clots and clotting disorders. Your participation will help us to raise funds and awareness about the risks, signs and symptoms of blood clots.
For the first time, we are thrilled to hold this year's walk at the beautiful Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley, CA - just minutes from the 405 freeway! We are offering 3 registration options - 5k walk, 1.5 mile walk and virtual walker. Register today and set up your fundraising page to share with family, friends and colleagues. (NOTE: Please register all attendees to help us with a proper head count.) If you are unable to join us but would like to become a virtual walker - you can still set up your fundraising page! Fundraisers who raise $75 will get an official t-shirt from the National Blood Clot Alliance! Blood clots (often called DVT - Deep Vein Thrombosis and PE - Pulmonary Embolism) and clot-provoked strokes are very serious medical conditions. The Surgeon General estimates that blood clots affect as many as 600,000 Americans, resulting in 100,000 deaths each year. More fatalities are caused by blood clots each year than breast cancer, AIDS, and auto accidents combined! In fact, blood clots are also the number one cause of preventable hospital deaths. Blood Clots do not discriminate and we are all at risk.
There is cause for serious concern, but there is also good news. Many blood clots can be prevented by understanding the risk factors, signs and symptoms. Your generosity and participation helps the NBCA get the message out that together, we are impacting patients and saving lives.
On the day of the event we will be meeting at Shelter 17 on Edinger Ave/Ward St. Registration begins at 9:00 AM, followed by the opening ceremony at 9:50 AM and the race kick off at 10:00 AM. We're looking forward to seeing you on March 26th!
