Nearly one year ago my mother wanted us to drive to a Summer Expo to listen to a man and his son speak about their plan to run across America to spread the word about inclusion. I must admit that I couldn't believe that any one could actually do that. Three months later we became a part of the Ainsley's Angels family and ran our first race with our very old running chair. When we crossed the finish line and the people were cheering me on so loudly I knew right then that I was hooked on racing.
We closely followed the Evans family on their journey as we were training and racing throughout the summer. It was mid July when Shaun Evans notified us that we were chosen as the last recipient to receive a new running chair when they completed their run in Orchard Beach. While we were in Orchard Beach we were able to meet the Rossiter family, the founders of Ainsley's Angels. These two families who are both so dedicated to this cause convinced my father and me to run in the Marine Corps Marathon. If we can reach our fundraising goal we will be able to provide a running chariot for other families to use in our area so they can also have this amazing experience!
I feel very fortunate to have found this great sport that allows me to do something very fun with out my wheel chair.
Thank you for your support.
