BENEFITING: Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow
EVENT DATE: Jun 26, 2016
On June 26, a group of people passionate about helping others and riding bikes will test their endurance on a long-distance bike ride in the beautiful Hudson Valley – a distance of up to 100 miles. Who are these enthusiasts? A group of OBT supporters, staff, and board members, affectionately called TEAM OPPORTUNITY!
Why do we ride?
New York City is in the midst of a “disconnected youth” crisis. Nearly 200,000 young people, ages 16-24 are out of school and unemployed. We aim to change that.
The mission of Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) is to help youth and adults recognize their own self-worth, and advance towards self-sufficiency and financial security through job training, academic reinforcement, improved life skills, job placement, and support services. Each year, we help more than 4,000 low-income people start on the path to a better tomorrow. All of our programs and services are free of charge – we even provide transportation fare, lunch stipends, and professional clothing. Learn more here.
We’re trying to raise $35,000, which will enable us to provide vital job training and education services to nearly 200 youth and adults this year. Check out our riders below, and please help us by supporting Team Opportunity!
