Assunta, Victoria and I (Melany) are back to attempt to raise as much money as we can for a foundation so near and dear to our hearts . “Ally’s dream was to help others, our pursuit is to make it a reality” – Katy Strong.
The Allyson Whitney Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that empowers and fights for the interests of young adults with rare cancers. Our vision is to shine a spotlight on an underserved demographic of young adults and to place an emphasis on the need for rare cancer research. Allyson Whitney Foundation primarily provides individuals with ‘life interrupted grants’ to ease their financial burden so that they can concentrate their energy on healing. The work of the Allyson Whitney Foundation continues as a tribute to Allyson Whitney Strong in honor of her memory. Her pursuit, after her cancer diagnosis, was to help others in the same situation.
In honor of her memory the organization awards ‘Life Interrupted grants’ ™ for young adult patients battling a rare cancer. In Ally’s blog, she vowed when well she would, “…help others in this situation whether it be financially, physically, or most important, mentally.” Her words inspire us and remind us about the power of gratitude: “At night, I try to think of at least three things I’m grateful for that day – and I truly think that it helps when I wake up… I wake up and smile and I say thank you. Thank you for another day.” Her desire to find out “why” leads us to further innovative research.
We hope that everyone can help us reach our goal by offering whatever they can. No donation is too small. Please use the link to donate what you can or join us at our Team Queens Girls fundraiser at Rocky Mcbrides in Astoria on Friday 4/22/16 after work . Open bar wrist band option from 7-10 with partial proceeds to the foundation . Thanks in advance for your support and generous warm hearts .
