I am a combat Veteran proudly served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After returning from Saudi Arabia I took leave to visit my family in California. I realized I now had a special connection with my Grandfather, who served in World War II took part of DDay. He opened up to me and shared his stories to include the pain of watching other soldiers die. My Grandfather was in the Navy and was a coxswain that piloted the landing crafts which brought Army soldiers on shore. After Germany surrendered he was involved in the repositioning of the landing crafts and crew to the South Pacific. He spoke of getting ready to support the Marines. Before his unit was deployed to Japan he had enough points to come home. He always regretted not being able to reinforce the Marines in the South Pacific. My grandfather passed away in 1998 but running in the Marine Corps Marathon can show support for the Marines. I dedicate my run to my Grandfather and able to raise money for Team RWB. Thank you all for considering to donate to a great organization that's mission is to enrich the lives of American Veterans by connecting them with their community through social and athletic activities.
