Hi I am Scarlett Caramazza, I am three years old, turning four on May 2 nd , the last 6 months of my life have been painful, sad, strange, and upside down, but as my daddy tells my story you will see that I have been very strong. Hi I’m daddy (Joseph) Scarlett was diagnosed with Clear Cell Sarcoma of the Kidney, a rare cancer that has only affected 353 people in the United States. Our lives changed completely, nothing was the same anymore, the only thing that seemed to be the same is all of us working together to beat this monster that so rapidly came into our lives. Scarlett’s story started with having to go to the hospital because mom found a huge lump in her stomach, from that point everything changed. Being transferred to Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego Hematology Oncology section we new that life was about to get very hard and very unbelievable. Things were moving fast now, from room 137, to surgical bed, removing a huge 5 and half-inch tumor. Once the tumor was removed she was then diagnosed. A very sad diagnoses, stage four CCSK. Plan was on there after; Scarlett under went multiple surgeries, MRIs, Pet Scans, CT Scan, and not her favorite 3 weeks of radiation. I would like to state that she had to be put to sleep every time, so sad, not normal, something we all had to get used to very fast. As the months went on Scarlett also had to endure Chemotherapy. Scarlett hit a very ruff patch in treatment; very soon after she started her 1 st phase of Chemo, she grew two new tumors in her jawbone and had to stop immediately. She has been on a new treatment now and has been doing very well. We recently found out that her tumors stopped growing and the 2 tumors have been shrinking. Scarlett’s faith, drive, strength, ambition, courage, laughter, playfulness, love, and never ending smile has brought not only her threw this but her entire family. She is the Warrior to her own story. Scarlett cancervive this!
