BENEFITING: ALS Association Greater New York Chapter
Team Sonal decided to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in support of the ALS Association Greater NY Chapter!
Sonal Shah was diagnosed with ALS in 2012 and sadly passed away in November 2015. During her extraordinary life, she served as a vital ALS advocate by writing a book about her life and experience with ALS called “My Life, Legacy, and ALS”. She also travelled to Washington DC many times to join ALSA in pushing for federal legislation and funding for research. Also, the legislative bill that she proposed to create an NJ ALS Awareness Day passed and became law, and incredible accomplishment to raise awareness for our urgent cause.
A little bit more about Mt. Kilimanjaro – it is a dormant volcano with an elevation of 19,341 feet, it is Africa’s highest peak and it is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world.
Since Sonal loved the outdoors and enjoyed exploring, Team Sonal is climbing in her memory and in honor of all ALS patients who have lost their muscle movements and motor functions. Our fundraising goal is $19,341 – the same height as Mt. Kilimanjaro! We appreciate any donations that will help reach our goal. All donations will go directly to the ALS Association Greater NY Chapter which is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and your donation will be tax deductible. Your contribution will make a big difference as we continue our quest to end ALS and offer care to people suffering from this horrific disease.
Thank you so much for your support throughout this journey!
