Thermos is proud to be a sponser of the Inaugural Walk Strong to Cure JM Chicago that will be held at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village, IL on May 7th.
Jen Shimp's daughter, Jessica, was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis in March 2011. She was just 8 years old and in 2nd grade. She is now 14 and still fighting for a Cure.
Juvenile Myositis (JM) is a life-threatening disease which causes the body’s own immune system to attack healthy cells and tissues. It can cause pain, weakness, inability to walk and disfigurement. It can affect virtually any system of the body, the heart, lungs, skin, muscles, and more. After struggling for a long time to determine why she had several strange rashes on different places on her body, they finally received a diagnosis that changed her life forever. JDM is an extremely rare disease that only affects about 2 children in every million.
But with support from friends and family like you, they are getting closer to better treatments and a cure. Last year, Cure JM was able to fund research at 10 prestigious research institutions, helping to advance JM research at an unprecedented pace – including important JM research that is being funded right here in Illinois, at Lurie Children’s Hospital!
Your gift now will keep that momentum going. Every donation goes straight to Cure JM, and over 91% of all funds raised go directly to research.
