Marty Meltzer wrote -I have embarked upon a personal, unimaginable physical and mental challenge. Starting April 5, 2015 I will be participating in and event named Marathon Des Sables (MDS), dubbed the hardest race on earth. MDS is a 150+ mile ultra event consisting of 6 marathons over the course of 7 days in the Sahara Desert. It is a self sustained race, meaning I carry my food and supplies. Water is supplied. Temperatures can reach over 120 degrees and be as low as 40 degrees. My challenge is nothing compared to the many children who suffer (and their families) through Progeria, a horrific disease that causes rapid aging in children and eventually their death at a very young age. Help me through their challenges and help fight Progeria by making a donation to TEAM ZOEY.
Who is Zoey, you may ask? And what exactly is her "Team"? Well, first of all, Zoey is Zoey Aster Penny, a beautiful, sweet little girl, born September 20th, 2009, with Progeria. This is a fatal disease that prematurely ages kids many times faster than normal. And Team Zoey includes every one who helps in the Fight Against Progeria. This could mean you.
Team Zoey is dedicated to raising money for the Progeria Research Foundation to find a cure and develop treatments for all the kids suffering from this disease; and to share with you Zoey as she lives her life fighting progeria. After recently having met Barbara Batesko and having heard her enthusiasm for this mighty cause and her uncanny fundrasing ability, I decided to join Team Zoey.
You can visit Team Zoey at http://www.teamzoey.com/ or The PRogeria Research Foundation at http://www.progeriaresearch.org/ to learn more about this insidious disease, and the great work that the Progeria Research Foundation (PRF) is doing.
So, on behalf of Zoey, her family, and all the other kids fighting the fight- help knock out Progeria.
