Averyl Oates has spent her career working in luxury fashion internationally in NY, Singapore, Paris and London. Most recently at Harrods, then Harvey Nichols as Global Fashion and Merchandising Director, she is now consulting for luxury brands. Brought up in SE Asia, charity work has always been close to her heart, also having recently driven in a 2000 km charity car rally from Goa to Kerala in Southern India, to raise money for Unicef India's 'Born free from HIV' campaign.
Why I'm participating:
I took part in Cash and Rocker last year, alongside an international mix of 47 incredible women, who all felt strongly about this very commendable cause. It really was the most amazing experience, not the least due to feeling that I was part of something meaningful, helping to raise money for incredibly worthy charities with an aim to educating underprivileged children. When Julie asked if I wanted to take part again this year, I jumped at the chance, and hope to involve as many as possible who would particularly appreciate the event, and embrace this innovative and important charity angle.
As an automotive journalist I've taken part in rallys before, bit a charity tour - all women, all cool red cars is an exciting first. I hope we will be able to generate generous donations to these great causes I'm hoping for a swath of giving from Barcelona to the Roman finale.
