On June 13th 2013 , the second annual Cash & Rocket tour and fundraiser will kick off, challenging a group of seventy influential women to raise awareness and funds for three notable African charities.
Each year, Cash & Rocket handpicks a group of successful and entrepreneurial women from the worlds of fashion, film, music, art and business to participate to the tour and unite in their efforts to raise global awareness and funds for charity.
Julie Brangstrup, founder and CEO of Cash & Rocket and mother of six explains, “While the Cash & Rocket Tour will undoubtedly form new friendships and memories for the women involved, the clear aim is to raise funds for our charities so we can help to deliver aid to African women, children and families. In 2012, on the first edition of the tour, we raised over $250.000 and our target for this year is to raise the double with the powerful ladies we have on the tour.”
The caravan of identically wrapped vintage and classic cars will begin in Barcelona and end in Rome on June 16th. The 2013 drivers will include the founder herself, entrepreneur Julie Brangstrup, Valentino designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, Margherita & Teresa Missoni, Delfina Delletrez Fendi, Patricia Arquette, Victoria’s Secret supermodel Selita Ebanks, stylist Charlotte Stockdale, Betony Vernon, supermodel Jodie Kidd and rock aristocracy’s Jo and Leah Wood.
The four-day road trip will include overnight stops in Cannes and Florence, a daytime event in Forte Dei Marmi and a charity gala and auction in Rome hosted by Milly Carlucci. Cash & Rocket have partnered with Crowdrise, the online fundraising tool, allowing the participants to raise funds before and during the trip.
All proceeds will go directly to the three selected projects in Africa:
1. Shine On Sierra Leone http://www.shineonsierraleone.org/
2. OrphanAid Africa http://www.oafrica.org/
3. Sumbandila http://sumbandila.org/
The event’s aim is to support three distinct non-profit organizations in Africa where all those involved will witness concrete results once the funds have been distributed. The charities and objectives include: Shine On Sierra Leone, supporting the building of a primary school for 300 children, OrphanAid Africa where the funds donated will aid in creating a survival centre to support 100 dislocated families through practical guidance, education and financing and Sumbandila, which provides high quality secondary education to underprivileged children and families in Southern Africa. “As a mother of six, I feel deeply moved by the vulnerability and suffering faced by millions of families each year. The Cash & Rocket Tour is a chance for a group of powerful women to come together and truly make a difference,” stated Julie Brangstrup.
The Cash & Rocket Tour 2013 has partnered with Valentino, Loewe, Bentley, Veuve Clicquot, Cavalli, Maserati, David Morris and Julian Macdonald as well as Vault Couture, Mophie and Vitaviva.
