Welcome to my 2013 iMentor Online Donor Drive page!
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you may know, I volunteer as a mentor for an organization called iMentor. iMentor provides students in low-income communities with mentors who are dedicated to providing professional, academic, and personal guidance to help them reach their potential.
I am currently in my third year of a three year match with my mentee, Khadijah. I met Khadijah in her sophomore year of high school and she is now a senior at Acorn Community High School in Brooklyn. Last year Khadijah and I spent the majority of our time preparing and navigating through the college application process. I am proud to say that Khadijah has received several college acceptance letters and academic scholarships. Just a few weeks ago we also found out that she was named Valedictorian of her graduating class! Khadijah plans on attending college this fall and pursuing a career in medicine.
This has been an amazing journey and a wonderful opportunity to be a part of Khadijah’s life. We have all had individuals who have made an impact in our lives. I hope that I can continue to influence and inspire Khadijah as many individuals have inspired me.
Please help iMentor continue to grow and reach more NYC students. Every contribution will help support mentor-mentee pairs like Khadijah and me.
Thank you for your help and support in making a difference in the lives of others!
Every dollar makes a difference.
- A donation as small as $25 allows a mentee to attend a year of iMentor events
- $100 supplies a mentee with a year's access to monthly career and college preperation events.
- $500 sponsors a mentee’s participation for an entire year.
We have all had someone in our lives that we consider a role model or a mentor. Don’t you think today’s youth deserve the same opportunity? iMentor makes this possible.
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
Students and mentors work one-on-one through iMentor’s online and in-person curriculum to navigate the college application process and build critical skills linked to college success. In New York City, iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the school receives a mentor.
Since 1999, iMentor has connected 11,000 students in New York City with mentors, and will match more than 2,400 mentor-mentee pairs this year. iMentor also provides its curriculum, technology, and best practices to nonprofits nationwide to help them run effective mentoring programs in the iMentor model.
