BENEFITING: Team Activities for Special Kids, Inc.
ORGANIZER: Team Activities for Special Kids, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Oct 19, 2014
This year Rose and I have decided that we are going to team up and form a two person relay team to run/walk this years Rock n' Roll Marathon & Half-Marathon sponsored by Jeff Quinn and the Quinn Family Foundation for the benefit of Team Activities for Special Kids (TASK). The race is set for October 19 and will draw over 15,000 runners to the streets of St. Louis. TASK is a wonderful organization that I have been involved with for a number of years and have served as the President of the organization for the past 3 years.
TASK is a St. Louis based organization whose mission is to increase self-esteem in individuals with special needs through recreational, social and athletic opportunities. TASK was established in 1996 and over the years has positively impacted the lives of thousands of individuals with special needs. No child is ever denied an opportunity to play/participate. TASK has been fortunate enough to be a part of the St. Louis Rock n' Roll Marathon & Half-Marathon over the past 3 years and thanks to the efforts of many we have raised just under $4.2 million towards our overall capital campaign goal of $4.5 million. We have used that money to purchase a facility in St. Louis, MO that spans over 13 acres and have renovated the facilities into a campus that has a lighted soccer field, softball fields, putting green, basketball courts, volleyball courts, indoor walking track, large kitchen for learning life skills, a sensory room and a first aid station; however, there is still more to do. For more information, please visit www.tasksports.org.
It is because of the generous support of friends, family and corporations that we have been able to grow this organization and we need to make certain that it remains sustainable so that it can continue to serve future generation of participants. Thank you for support.
