BENEFITING: ALS Association Greater New York Chapter
ORGANIZER: ALS Association Greater New York Chapter
EVENT DATE: Nov 17, 2013
Those of you who know me know that I like to run. You probably also know that I do not consider myself a runner; but, after completing five half marathons and countless other smaller races, the realization that I should train for another Half-Marathon was evident.
After committing myself to run 13.1 miles, I thought it would be great to run in support for an organization or cause. Yes, I could have trained and run for myself, which is equally as admirable, but I joined TEAM ALS: RUNNING 4 A CURE to reinforce the significance and my commitment to running the 2013 Philadelphia Half-Marathon.
My connection to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) dates back to 2000 when my Aunt was diagnosed with ALS. This experience was difficult on my family and continues to be a daily reminder how fragile humanity really is. Seeing someone we cared so deeply about fight for their life against this terrible disease is something that no one should every have to experience.
Since then, I often volunteer and donate to organizations whose purpose is to find a cure for ALS. This devastating disease affects countless people, their families, and their communities every year. Through every stride, countless training hours and early morning runs my goal is to help find a cure for ALS -- Please join my journey to help find a cure by donating today.
