Andi Rachel Knepper arrived 3 months ahead of her due date, she weighed just over 2 pounds. She was quickly rushed to the NICU facility at Mount Sinai Hospital at birth. I gave birth to Andi, but the NICU team at Mount Sinai brought Andi to life. She lived in their loving pampered care for almost 3 months. I will forever be grateful to the nurses and doctors- TEAM ANDI. The hardest part for me was leaving Andi's incubator nightly not knowing if she was going to forget to breathe or if her heart would tire out and need an extra push, her future was completely dependent on her NICU TEAM'S vigilance. Mount Sinai is currently reconstructing its NICU facility, TEAM ANDI hopes to donate funds to construct a "nesting room" a place where parents can live with their at-risk newborns never having to leave their crib side.
The NICU at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City is a facility that is well-known for its high success rate in saving newborns at risk. Our Andi is one of their many miracles. Please help support this important cause so that future NICU parents can live with their at-risk newborns at birth.
