#TeamAtticus - help this infant fight cancer
Organized by: Krys VanSlyke
Atticus was a one year old boy with stage 4 neuroblastoma throughout his little body. He was a fighter and we appreciate all the help you have been.
Atticus passed away August 21, 2015, but the medical bills keep coming.
We will eventually close this campaign, but we are grateful for any continued support. Below is our original plea for our precious boy.
Atticus is one of the happiest kids you'll ever meet - just full of personality. If someone in public doesn't smile at him, he'll lean toward them and cock his head to the side to get their attention so he can flash that grin of his. Then one day it was like a switch was flipped. He could not seem to get comfortable and had no smiles for anyone. He stopped eating and had difficulty sleeping both day and night.
After more than a week of this we took him to the doctors but they had no answers - telling us he probably just had a bug.
They finally conceded to run some blood work. Thank God they did because that started us down a path that led us to the hematologist, who then sent us to the children's hosptial where they checked us into the oncology ward.
Now we know he has neuroblastoma throughout his little body - a big tumor on his adrenal gland, another on his liver, and metastases in his lymph nodes, bone marrow and bones (including his skull).
At the time of this writing we have absolutely no idea what the bills for months of cancer treatment are going to be, and it looks like his surgery/recovery will overlap with the birth of our fourth child. We do have insurance, but the deductibles reset in january and i' msure we will encounter elements of his care and treatment that are not covered by insurance.
If it means eating ramen and taking five jobs, I'll do what it takes to provide for my family, but so many people have asked how they can help and this is a very real, very needed way.
Thank you in advance for helping us heal this little boy.
