BENEFITING: Transverse Myelitis Association
Becci Hethcoat wrote -In 2002, at 2 months old, Austin contracted Transverse Myelitis, a rare neuro-immune disease. This disease attacked his spinal cord at the mid chest area and the subsequent damage left him a paraplegic and wheelchair bound. Austin is rolling, along with his family and friends, in the TMA WALK-RUN-N-ROLL to raise money to support the work of the Transverse Myelitis Association as they advocate for individuals and their families when they are diagnosed with one of these rare disorders. Not only does your support help fund the annual TMA family camp that we look forward to every year, but it also offers support groups, funds innovative research, conducts educational programs, and funds the training of clinician-scientists through their Fellowship Award. Our goal is to place knowledgeable Doctors around the country who will recognize these disorders at their onset and be able to offer an immediate diagnosis and treatment so that no child, or their family, will have to go through what we did, almost 13 years ago, of waiting for months to find a correct diagnosis and thus forgoing any of the treatments that could have made such a difference for Austin if they were given at onset. Please join us in pledging toward our goal as well as coming out to WALK-RUN-N-ROLL with our family in support of Austin and all of the kids with TM!
