A year ago I decided to run the Boston Marathon for the first time in honor of the tenth anniversary that my wife, Nikki, underwent emergency brain surgery. It was an incredible experience for me and our entire family. We received unbelievable support, both moral and through financial donations, for the effort from all of you, our friends and family. The race itself proved very challenging for me, due to an injury I sustained in training and the 90 degree temperatures on race day. Nevertheless, I finished and, due to your support, we were able to make a great financial contribution to the hospital that has helped our family for years – Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC).
I’ve decided to run the Boston Marathon again this year and I ask once again for your support. We have much less of a milestone this year to celebrate, but the thrill of running Boston and the opportunity to support BIDMC has led me to participate again. BIDMC has been the site of several important medical events in our family’s life, notably Nikki’s surgery and the birth of our four children. Moreover, the hospital does cutting-edge medical work each day for the Boston community and the world. Funds raised in this year’s Marathon effort will go to BIDMC programs that improve health in economically disadvantaged communities and that seek new approaches to reduce kidney disease.
If you can, please consider a gift to this campaign which can be done by clicking the “Donate” button above. Thank you all for the friendship, caring, and support you have shown our family over many years and thank you in advance for considering a gift to this Marathon fundraising effort. I’ll keep you posted on our progress and, for those of you who are neighbors, I’ll see you out on the road training!
