On April 15, 2013, I will be running my first official Boston Marathon representing and raising money for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center(BIDMC).
All donations will go towards kidney disease research.
The Renal Division Research Team has identified a reason for the high rate of kidney disease in people of African descent. Kidney disease is five times more likely to affect African Americans than other groups of people, and the team is actively working to alleviate this epidemic. Over the next three to five years, the team aims to use their findings to better understand, prevent, and treat kidney disease in African Americans. They plan to develop a multifaceted approach to solving this problem that will be highly visible and have a large impact on the lives of individuals and their families.
For those of you not familiar with Beth Israel, it is one of the Harvard hospitals located in Boston, MA. and is known for its world class research. In recent years, it has consistently ranked high nationally among independent hospitals for money received from the National Institute of Health. Beth Israel has a high level of expertise and cutting-edge technology that enables its surgeons, doctors, and staff to provide the best care possible with compassion and respect.
I personally have a close friend who was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer. It was the level of expertise, treatments and care at Beth Israel which has led to his success in healing. His family feels that the level of care he received was extraordinary and a life saving experience. For this we are all grateful.
I would truly appreciate your generosity if you would sponsor me as a (BIDMC) Grateful Nation Boston Marathon Team Member. I have pledged to raise $5,000.00. Please help me reach my goal so together we can all support Beth Israel and its patients.
I am thrilled to run my first Boston Marathon this coming spring. As most of you know, I am an avid runner and have completed seven marathons, most recently the Falmouth Marathon on October 28, 2012. If you know me personally, you are aware of my love for running, movement, commitment to healthy living and compassion towards others.
I PROMISE to finish and make you all proud to have supported the cause.
With much appreciation,
