I am so fortunate and priveledged to be running for Team BIDMC for the 2015 Boston Marathon. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has been my professional home since 2009, and I owe so much for all I've learned. It's made me the doctor I am today, and I can't say enough great things about my experience there.
Right now the education, research, and high quality of care BIDMC provides is truly remarkable. Researchers at BIDMC are leading the country in the search for the world's first HIV vaccine, have led efforts to essentially cure hepatitis C for the first time in history, and has recently become the first to discover the causes of eclampsia, a deadly disease afflicting pregnant women. I've also seen firsthand the incredible education that occurs every day, teaching medical students, residents, and nursing students; I've never seen so much pride and passion for teaching in one place. Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of BIDMC is the incredibly high quality of care that patients receive. I don't think you can find better nurses anywhere in the United States. And the residents are some of the most inspiring and talented individuals you will meet. It's no coincidence that BIDMC has been recognized as America's top hospital for quality of care.
In short, your donation would allow all this remarkable work continue, and allow BIDMC to maintain its vital mission of creating cutting edge and world-changing research, incredible medical education, and providing the highest quality of patient-centered care for Boston and beyond.
Thank you in advance for your dontation. Keep an eye out for a fund-raising rock concert in the spring by our band, the Poor Historians. I'm excited to run in April.
