Dear Family and Friends,
I am so excited to be accepted on to Team BIDMC 2015 for the 2015 Boston Marathon. Team BIDMC is running to support Kidney Disease Research, Bowdoin Street Health Center, The Cancer Center, and the Annual Fund. I am specifically running to support Kidney Disease Research.
I chose to run to support Kidney Disease Research for a number of reasons. My first reason is a very personal one; I lost my paternal Grandmother to kidney disease in her early 60’s and that shortened the time I got to spending with her as I grew up. I also have two co-workers that I admire very much that have different forms of kidney disease. I have watched how this has affected their lives and it makes me want to find a way to help them and their future. My boss’s sister also has kidney disease. And there are many, many more that I know that I am forgetting to mention. I may not be a candidate to donate a kidney but I sure can help them raise money to learn more about this disease and discover better ways to treat this disease in the near future. BIDMC is a research and learning hospital connected to Harvard University, they do amazing research and I know that the more money we can raise to help them fund the research they do the more life changing advances they can make possible for our loved ones.
This past year has been a tough one for me, I lost my Mom very unexpectedly and it made me realize that our time here on earth is not forever. All we have is time, so why not make the most of it and help those that we love around us?! This race will be part of my healing process and hopefully I can help heal some others along the way!
My fundraising goal is $7,500 for Team BIDMC 2015.
Thank you for taking the time to consider making a donation to this cause.
Love and Blessings, Melissa
