Many of you that know me, know that I have been committed to caring for cancer patients throughout much of my life. My journey started 12 years ago when I took my first nursing position as a bedside oncology nurse. Not only has caring for cancer patients been a part of my professional life but, it has sadly been a part of my personal life as it has been for many of you reading this. The personal experience with cancer changed my life, further encouraging me to find ways to make a bigger difference.
Now, as a Nurse Practitioner, I continue to work with cancer patients and have been privileged to work at some of the most advanced cancer centers in the country. Over the last two years, I have been working at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. I work side by side with an amazing team that consists of doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and support staff. We are a dedicated group that work daily with the same goal of helping our patients beat their disease. Our hopes and efforts are to help not only our patient's but also their families and friends.
Now, I am reaching out to you for help! I am running the marathon to help raise money that will go DIRECTLY to the research here at BIDMC in our hematology oncology department. This will help fund research for patients we care for that have Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma and more. Many of these patients are undergoing treatments which have only been available to humans for weeks or months. Dr. David Avigan and our team have been leading the way in immune therapy and have developed a unique cancer vaccine which is changing the way we care for Myeloma and leukemia patients. Through the research here at Beth Israel, we are truly making a difference in the world.
Please help us continue that effort!
*Note, Dr. Avigan is running but has already met his fundraising commitment and therefore he said you should donate here. Dr.'s orders.
