BENEFITING: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
ORGANIZER: big Burrito Restaurant Group
Last year, I ran the full marathon and came in last place. Yes, you read that right. You have somehow navigated your way to the personal fundraising page of the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon last place finisher. This little personal fact is great for bar discussion and trivia. It's also a kind of funny joke (except that it's 100% real).
You know what isn't a joke but is also 100% real? Hunger. Tens of thousands of our neighbors struggle daily with food security. I've been incredibly lucky in that I've never been short of food supply (I'm sure one look at my physique would have already told you that). Yet, people you and I know personally are having to rationalize skipping their own meal so that their children have enough to take for a school lunch the next day. I'm sure we can all agree that this scenario should never have to play out.
That's why we're so blessed as a region to have an incredible resource like the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The work these amazing people do every day is making a bigger impact on our community that I could ever hope to do. Each year, employees of the big Burrito Restaurant Group run in various marathon weekend events for the sole purpose of raising as much money as possible for Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Please, consider donating to my page or any of the pages of my fellow big Burritos. Literally every dollar can make a huge impact right in our own neighborhoods.
I love you.
