As many of you know the last three years have been challenging on the Haines Family. My beloved sweet caring Aunt Pat Haines aka Auntie P was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 57. What you might not know is that Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the USA. Furthermore, Alzheimer’s is the only cause of death where there is no treatment to slow, prevent, or cure this terrible disease. The only treatment we can provide is to sit back and comfort our loved ones as they forget where they put their reading glasses, how to tie their shoes, how to open the car door, how to get dressed, what your name is and eventually how to walk, talk, and breathe.
I have watched my Aunt now 60 years old, fight and try to combat this terrible disease for 3 long years. As my family provides the best care we know how to and still see no positive results other than the occasional smile, which means more than you know. To honor my Aunt’s ongoing battle with Alzheimer’s I am joining up with BvB Dallas a non-profit powder-puff football game and fundraiser dedicated to help Tackle Alzheimer’s. I will be signing on as a Coach for Team Blonde and specialize in being a loud supporter just as my Aunt Pat was at all my sporting events. BvB Dallas funds benefit research projects at UT Southwestern Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship, UTD Center for Brain Health, and the Baylor AT&T Memory & Neuroscience Center. The “Donate” button on the right will take you to my contribution page where my goal is to raise $5,000 to help tackle Alzheimer’s. Every dollar counts and any donation over $25 gets you a ticket to cheer on Team Blonde in the Cotton Bowl on August 13, 2016.
Thank you for your support!
