I know, I know -- I am crazy, but yes! I am running the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013 with Team BMC on behalf of the Boston Medical Center! Please join me in this effort -- I need your support as I can't do this alone!
As many of you know, running has become a "hobby" of mine. I am still not sure how it happened but I know it all started in third year of residency. A bunch of my co-residents and myself, in an effort to get in shape, decided to sign up for the Boston Half Marathon in 2008. Five or six half marathons later, add in a few 5Ks and a 10K, I guess I can now safely say that I am a "runner".
With all of this craziness, I have had the opportunity to participate in a few races on behalf of charities. Whether it has been for Fred's Team in NYC or the Jimmy Fund in Boston, it really has been a privilege to raise money and run for a good cause.
This is my last year in Boston -- which is really hard for me to believe... I have been here for almost seven years now working for the Boston Medical Center. I am forever grateful to this hospital and I am especially grateful to the patients for teaching me how to be a physician that strives to provide "exceptional care without exception."
Running with Team BMC in the Boston Marathon is the perfect opportunity for me to give back to the Boston Medical Center. I feel compelled to say thank you to all of my mentors, attendings, nurses and ancillary staff -- but I especially want to say thank you to the patients.
If you are able, please support me in my run! Thank you!
