You're invited to give back to those who have already sacrificed and given so much! Help me in raising $1,008.00 (or more) by June 28, 2015 to support national non-profit organizations (see below) who provide yoga, mindfulness trainings, and other holistic health services to veterans, active duty military and their families.
When we stand together and unite for a common purpose greater than our individual selves, we begin, as Mahatma Gandhi said, “to become the change we wish to see in the World.” Let’s unite. Grow a movement. Make a difference. Together we can share the healing and transformative practice of yoga to veterans, service members and their families.
Having practiced and taught yoga, meditation and mindfulness for nearly a decade, I never thought I would ever marry a U.S. Marine, let alone an Infantry Marine Officer. Yoga has taught me many things, changed my worldview, brought great healing to my life, uncovered meaning, purpose and passion and also lead me to my Beloved Grunt (ooorah). It was only natural that my two worlds of yoga and military melt together in a synergy that continues to transform, grow and explore my understanding of the human potential for truly loving unconditionally, all parts of life--even the hardest parts to love like war, fighting, rage, judgement and hatred. Yoga is my foundation and a way for me to give back to others as well.
YOGA TRULY TRANSFORMS INDIVIDUALS AND CHANGES LIVES...
As a clinical yoga instructor at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Warrior Recovery Center (an integrated medicine department including Mental Health, Holistic Health, Deployment Health, Wounded Warrior Battalion West, Concussion Clinic and Intensive Outpatient Program for PTSD and chemical dependency) from 2012-2014, I witnessed first hand the power of yoga on healing the seen and unseen stressors of military and veteran life.
Being a bridge between the yoga and military cultures and worlds is a calling and I hope you will support my calling of building a strong bridge of hope, transformation, healing and selfless service with your donation.
100% of your donation goes directly to support programs produced by Give Back Yoga Foundation and Connected Warriors, both national foundations providing Yoga science and other healing services to our veterans, service members and their families. Your donation will also help Warriors for Healing grow this movement of selfless service, expand awareness of the healing powers of yoga to a broader audience, and to hold more special fundraising events nationwide.
EVERY DOLLAR MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
For every $100 raised we can provide one veteran the following package:
• A thorough Mindful Yoga Therapy For Veterans Practice Guide with detailed explanations of yoga therapy, how yoga helps deal with PTSD, series of yoga postures with photos and illustrations, techniques for mindful breathing, meditation and affirmations, plus audio CDs for breath work and deep meditation. (Provided by Give Back Yoga Foundation)
• Access to a list of complimentary yoga class for veterans in various states across the country. (Provided by Connected Warriors Foundation / availability subject to geographic location).
• A PDF version of the highly acclaimed memoir Warrior Pose, How Yoga Literally Saved My Life, by former netwroks news war correspondent and W4H founder Bhava Ram. (provided by the Warriors for Healing Foundation)
