ORGANIZER: BIG D POWDERPUFF TACKLING ALZHEIMERS INC
I am extremely excited to get involved with BvB Dallas as a defensive coach for Team Brunette. You know what they say, "Defense wins championships."
For those of you that are unfamiliar with BvB Dallas, it is a young-professional organization that hosts a powder-puff football game for a day of fun, fellowship, philanthropy and enjoyment as a way of raising money for Alzheimer’s research and awareness. 1 in 9 people aged 65 or older has Alzheimer's disease and that number drastically increases with age as one third of people aged 85 or older has Alzheimer's.
Last year, BvB Dallas fundraised $491,000 towards Alzheimer's initiatives and this year we hope to break $500,000. This year, BvB Dallas will fund a clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship at the Alzheimer's Disease Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center, research at the Baylor AT&T Memory Center with the goal of developing a blood or urine screen to detect Alzheimer's vulnerability years before symptoms occur, and the second phase of a research study at the Center for BrainHealth that explores the benefits of strategy based mental training.
The 9th annual powder-puff game is on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. For every $25 in donations, you will receive a ticket to the big game. Thank you in advance for any contributions that you are able to make!
