BENEFITING: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2011
HOURS PLEDGED: 10
I am Amanda Bryie, Captain of Team Bryie. Our Light the Night team began with just four people, myself, my husband, A1C Joshua Bryie, and our two children. Our goal was to raise $400.00 to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and to celebrate my 13th year as a Hodgkin's disease SURVIVOR. But, through the help of friends, our team has grown to include two other Airmen, their families, and three other Spouses. Our new combined team goal: $2000.00.
A lot of money, huh? What would that amount of money accomplish? $25 covers the cost of one prescription co-payment for someone who otherwise may have had to go without. That's 80 potential prescriptions. $50 covers the cost of one CT scan, and I can tell you that when you are a cancer patient, sometimes it feels like you live in them. $2000 would potentially cover 50 scans so that physicians can track the progress of their patients. $200 provides funding for the Family Support Group Program for one year, where patients and their families can come together to support each other in their battles. We could provide for 10 of these. And so much more. Dollars raised also go towards cancer research. Actually finding the drugs that treat the diseases. And each dollar raised gets us one step closer to finding the cure.
