BENEFITING: BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION
I ran the 2006 NYC Marathon in honor of my husband Chris and ran last year in his memory. Chris was my life partner and best friend. We had our wonderful son Andrew in Feb 2005 and Chris lost his 12 year battle with brain cancer in Oct 2007, at the age of 37.
When Chris's neurosurgeon Dr. Patrick Kelly founded the Brain Tumor Foundation (BTF) in 1998, Chris eagerly joined the board. He committed himself to learning about the disease and finding ways to help himself and others. Dr. Kelly always said, "if we could catch these (brain tumors) when they're small, there'd be much better outcomes." Hence was born the Road to Early Detection campaign, to raise awareness among medical professionals and the public.
I am proud to be Team BTF Captain for a second year. We have a fantastic group of runners dedicated to an extremely worthy cause. Please read their stories and consider making a donation.
Funds raised will go directly to The Road to Early Detection campaign.
