BENEFITING: BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION
I want to get a little personal.
My mother, my co-worker Sal Isolano, and two family members of close friends died from brain cancer.
Last year (without even running in the race!) we raised $4465.00 in memory of Sal Isolano. I am running in this year's NYC Marathon to support the Brain Tumor Foundation.
Team BTF is proud to once again be participating in the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 3, 2013. The Brain Tumor Foundation (BTF) guides and supports patients and families during the turbulent times when their lives are touched by a brain tumor.
Over a million people in the US are living with brain tumors that have not yet been detected.
It is estimated over 14,000 deaths are expected to occur this year due to brain tumors.
Possibly half of all brain tumor patients could have their tumors successfully removed if they were detected early, before physical symptoms become apparent. Early detection and complete removal is the best known method of treating deadly tumor growth.
