Hi Family and Friends
This April I will be running my second Boston Marathon to raise money for my favorite charity buildOn! buildOn aims to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education. buildOn has been around for 21 years and provides after school programs for some of the most underserved youth in the United States and builds schools in developing countries. To date 500 schools have been built in 9 countries. 1.6 million lives have been touched, 1 million volunteer hours served and over 70,000 children have been educated globally. It takes $30,000 dollars to build a school - please help me support the buildOn chapter of Boston. Its easy - I run 26.2 miles - you donate to an amazing cause.
Jeff and I have been involved with buildOn for the past 8 years. Jeff serves on the National board for buildOn and I serve on the CT board.
Last year it was 93 degrees when I ran the marathon - wonder what the Boston Spring will bring this year - no matter what I will be ready again to run for a great cause
Thanks for your support - any size donation to buildOn for my run can make a difference to the children and communities buildOn impacts.
The buildOn Boston Chapter has collaborated with the Boston Public Schools to send high school students on a Trek for Knowledge in Nicaragua. buildOn's Treks for Knowledge give American students the opportunity to travel to a developing country and build a school for needy students abroad. All funds raised through the Boston Marathon fundraising events will support that journey. buildOn Boston and the Boston Public Schools are excited about the opportunity to make a difference in students' lives at home and abroad and look forward to meeting the buildOn Boston Marathon Team members.
